Abilities
Understanding your abilities can help you in your journey to know more about yourself. For example, if you have talents in writing, you can learn how you can better use written or oral language to develop your special gifts. Remember, your abilities can be developed!
Artistic
This is an expression style. You may like to draw or like to choose colors and pay attention to design or texture or the way things look or feel.
Athletics/Sports
This is an interest area. You may like physical activity, or are interested in learning about sports figures, diet, nutrition, physical therapy, or sports medicine.
Audio-Visual/Display
This is an expression style. You may enjoy organizing eye-catching arrangements of objects or things. You may like to work on displaying information on boards or on posters or enjoy organizing materials.
Business
This is an interest area. You may show an interest in making money, organizing or starting a business or being in a leadership role in dealing with people, such as being the play director or yearbook editor.
Commercial
This is an expression style. You may think you would like to start your own small business or sell a product.
Contests & Competitions
This is a type of enrichment activity. This is a type of enrichment activity. Contests and competitions can provide you with many opportunities to learn important skills and life lessons. We have found contests in hundreds of areas, from building bridges to writing poetry! Contests and competitions provide an exceptional way to match your talents with exciting outlets. Contests can help you learn some important lessons and aspire to higher levels of excellence while having fun!
Creativity Training
This is a type of enrichment activity. Creativity training enables creative kids to have opportunities to learn how to create. Creative kids can learn to be more open to new experiences and to develop fluency (to have more ideas), flexibility (to have different ideas) and originality (to have new ideas).
Critical Thinking
This is a type of enrichment activity. Critical thinking has been defined in many ways, but in Renzulli Learning, we define it as the ability to critically analyze material for point of view, bias, logically supported conclusions, sequential development of a point, and other skills. Critical thinkers plan their actions, clarify, explain, and interpret, information. They can also consider carefully which information is accurate and use good judgments to make decisions.
Discussion
This is a learning style. When two or more people talk about issues and topics by considering facts and discussing them.
Dramatic
This is an expression style. You may like doing theatrical performances, such as acting and role-playing.
Expression Styles
Expression and product styles usually mean the kinds of products you like to do.
Fiction Books
This is a type of enrichment activity. We have found hundreds of high interest fiction books in your interest areas that can provide enrichment and challenge. Many of these books are available in school and public libraries or even read on line.
Fine Arts
This is an interest area. You may like color, texture, and creating products, such as fabric, jewelry or fashion as well as set and costume design and graphic layouts. You may also be interested in photography and furniture design.
Foreign Language
This is an interest area. You are really interested in learning other languages and exploring other cultures.
Group Work
This is a learning style. When you get together with a group of other students to do work in class or out of class.
Hands-on
This is an expression style. You may like to work on things with your hands, such as building and constructing, or designing things.
History
This is an interest area. You may have an interest in studying the past, such as wars, famous historical figures, antiques, old photographs, ice ages, and oral histories (talking to people about their past experiences).
How-To Books
This is a type of enrichment activity. How-to books can show you outstanding ways to learn thinking skills, methods of research, and ways of doing specific projects (like making pop-up books or conducting a science experiment). We have found hundreds of How to books that you can use to do in-depth independent projects and other interesting projects in school and at home.
Independent Studies
This is a learning style. Independent Studies can be done by you alone or with a small group of your friends in a topic you choose. Usually, your teachers or other adults help you with your work, which results in some type of product, such as an experiment, a video, a service, or an oral presentation.
Interest Area
Something that you enjoy doing more than you enjoy doing other things.
Learning Games
This is a learning style. Enable you to learn content by playing games or activities such as cards, board games, or even electronic games to practice skills. These activities can be completed individually, by small groups of students, or by the whole class.
Learning Styles
Your learning or instructional styles are the ways you like to learn and the strategies your parents and teachers use to help you learn.
Lecture
This is a learning style. When you listen to information presented to large or small groups of students by your teacher or someone else.
Literature/Reading
This is an interest area. You really like reading material like novels, stories, prose, poetry, and other types of literature.
Mathematics
This is an interest area. You may enjoy working with numbers, problems, patterns, and logic (such as using computers, logic puzzles, and word problems).
Musical
This is an expression style. You may enjoy listening to, or playing, and/or thinking about some or all forms of music.
Non-Fiction Books
This is a type of enrichment activity. We have found hundreds of high interest non-fiction books in your interest areas that can provide enrichment and challenge. Many of these books are available in school and public libraries or even read on line.
On-line Activities & Classes
This is a type of enrichment activity. Activities are readily available on line to help you to become more involved with on-line learning in a number of interest areas. Both activities and classes are available for you in different areas like writing, reading, science, math and many others!
Oral
This is an expression style. You enjoy speaking and discussing things. Or you may like debates or speeches, or talking about things in your class.
Peer Tutoring
This is a learning style. When a student or friend who knows a lot about something helps someone else who does not really understand the topic.
Performing Arts
This is an interest area. You really like music, dance, pantomime, or drama and may enjoy performing in front of someone or helping in a back-stage area to direct, manage the stage, or even do sets!
Photography/Video
This is an interest area. You may enjoy the process of producing images using photographs or making a motion picture, or even a music video.
Programmed Instruction
This is a learning style. Occurs when you read a chapter and then answer questions, or when you are asked to complete workbook pages after reading some material in class.
Projects & Independent Study
This is a type of enrichment activity. These projects and independent studies are available in every area of interest area in Renzulli Learning. These high quality enrichment projects will let you pursue areas of interest and enjoy learning more about exciting projects in areas like building bridges, writing short stories, studying castles, and creating all kinds of products.
Real Field Trips
This is a type of enrichment activity. In this category, you can find the most exciting field trips for kids in every state in the country. Many of these trips can be made via web sites and virtual tours, but these are also places that you visit in person someday.
Research Skills
This is a type of enrichment activity. Learning research skills can help students learn how to conduct real research in many areas. Students can learn how to do historical research, scientific research, and even research about art, music and writing!
Sciences
This is an interest area. You may enjoy activities related to learning about biology, chemistry, environmental protection or geology and doing something with this knowledge, like experimenting or conducting a science fair project, or even collecting specimens like leaves or arrowheads.
Service
This is an expression style. You may like to provide assistance to individuals or groups within your community or you may want to lead a group of students to do something that provides help to others.
Simulations
This is a learning style. Simulations help you to learn content and skills through role playing that is based on real problems or pretending to be a character, such as Thomas Jefferson in the signing of the Declaration of Independence or Eleanor Roosevelt during World War II.
Social Action
This is an interest area. You may show a concern for legal, moral or philosophical issues (e.g., women's rights, AIDS victims, animal rights, and environmental issues). You may want to change a law or do something to make the world a better place.
Summer Programs
This is a type of enrichment activity. Exciting summer programs are available throughout the country that can enable you to enjoy exciting learning opportunities. Some are available on-line, some are overnight programs and camps, and some are day programs. Scholarships are available from some and for others, you may be able to find funding from a variety of sources.
Technological (Expression Style)
This is an expression style. You may like to use and integrate media in a number of different, interesting ways.

Videos & Dvds
This is a type of enrichment activity. Videos and DVDs can enable students to pursue their interests in literature, history, science, and provide they can enrichment in a wide variety of areas. Many of these resources are available at local libraries at no cost. Whether students want to learn indepth information from historical videos or be exposed to different topics in science or literature, these resources can enrich their lives and prove highly engaging.
Virtual Field Trips
This is a type of enrichment activity. In the Renzulli Learning System, these virtual field trips will enable you to “virtually” visit exciting places such as castles, museums, and even the pages of award winning children’s books. We have located and catalogued hundreds of outstanding virtual field trips for you in a wide variety of content areas. In some virtual field trips, you will want to spend only a few minutes, while in other virtual field trips, you may want to spend much longer periods of time.
